“Honoring Our Elders-Part 2” 

 

The Ziibiwing Center is home to an extensive collection of cultural material created by the elders of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan. Artistic traditions continue through time due to master artists and their commitment to retain and share the knowledge imparted to them for future generations. “Honoring Our Elders-Part 2” is the second half of our February collection display. This event is FREE, open to the public, and will be available now until May 28, 2011.

May 16 & 17 FREE International Film Festival Coming to Mt. Pleasant!

The Ziibiwing Center and Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe of Michigan were selected as 1 of 6 locations in the U.S. to showcase these films.      

Starting on Mon., May 16, the Ziibiwing Center in partnership with Sundance Institute invite you to participate in a FREE international film festival! The film festival is called FILM FORWARD: Advancing Cultural Dialogue and showcases six different international films. The films are:

 A Small Act

Winter’s Bone

La Mission

Amreeka

Freedom Riders

Boy

 
We will be screening films and hosting discussions with two filmmakers at the Mt. Pleasant Celebration! Cinema on Monday, May 16 & Tuesday, May 17 following the last show time.

All screenings and discussions are FREE and open to the public. Tickets are only available the day of at the Celebration! Cinema theatre box office and a separate ticket needs to be purchased (at no cost) for each movie. Plan to get there early before tickets run out! The Celebration! Cinema opens at 11am.
