Behind the scenes of Anishnaabensag Biimskowebshkigewag “Native Kids Ride Bikes”

28 Feb

We had the opportunity of interviewing Dr. Dylan AT Miner and asking him the significance behind the Anishnaabensag Biimskowebshkigewag “Native Kids Ride Bikes” exhibit. Here are the questions we asked him:

  •  Tell us a little bit about yourself.
  •  What does this exhibit mean to you?
  • What did it feel like to see the completed exhibition for the first time?
  • What was your reasoning behind working with the transportation industry?
  • Did you always know you wanted to involve Native students on your project?
  • How did you collaborate on the designs of each individual bike?
  • Why were the Seven Grandfather teachings selected as themes?
  • How long did this exhibition take to create?

Check out the “Let’s Learn” page to get a better look at what the “Native Kids Ride Bikes” exhibition means to him!
