Performance Circle Class
Seniors 4–5:30pm & Junior 5:30-6:30pm
The mission of the Anishinabe Performance Circle is aimed at promoting and enhancing positive self images of all children through the use of traditional Anishinabe arts, and preparing our youth as leaders in a multicultural society. Dare to learn the culture and share it with others.

Circle of Indigenous Arts Business Leadership Training Workshop
Presented by the First People Fund
8am-4pm
The Ziibiwing Center with Exclusive Sponsor, Charles Schwab & Co., Inc., is offering a FREE business training opportunity to 24 practicing, full-time North American Indian artists. The workshop will be held on site at the Ziibiwing Center (breakfast and lunch will be provided). The training will provide Native artists the tools and support needed to manage entrepreneurial business in order to achieve economic success and growth in the community. Applications for this workshop are due by September 29 – so register NOW, as there are only 24 seats available. For applications, please visit the Ziibiwing website.

Circle of Indigenous Arts & Fall Festival
11am-9pm
With the help of Exclusive Sponsor, Charles Schwab & Co., Inc., Ziibiwing is pleased to announce an art event that showcases Indigenous Art, Crafts, Dance, Fashion and Music, offering beautiful and unique items for purchase. The event will take place at the Soaring Eagle and Resort Entertainment Hall. Awards of $1,000 will be given out in the areas of Lifetime Achievement and Master/Apprentice Fellowship, as well as The Ziibiwing Center Ashenigewin (Giving Back) Award and The Emerging Spirit Scholarship. Eagle Feather Cleansing
1-6pm
Participate with members from the Anishinabe Ogitchedaw Veteran & Warrior Society, Eagle Clan and Ziibiwing Staff in cleaning and honoring the eagle feathers in the Ziibiwing Collection. This event is free and open to the public. You may also bring your own personal eagle feathers to clean and honor.
Some restrictions may apply.

October 18 & 19
Eagle Feather Honoring
1-6pm
Honor and visit the eagle feathers in the Ziibiwing Collections. This event is free and open to the public. A bowl will also be available to leave your semaa (tobacco) offering, which will be placed in a sacred fire.

October 19
Eagle Feather Feast
6-8pm
Join with members from the Anishinabe Ogitchedaw Veterans & Warriors Society, Eagle Clan and Ziibiwing Staff in feasting with the eagle feathers in the Ziibiwing Collections. This event is free and open to the public. You may also bring your own personal eagle feather to feast with. A sacred fire will be lit to place your semaa (tobacco) offerings. Please bring a dish to pass – no poultry or other bird dishes.

Museum Day LIVE!

The Ziibiwing Center will be CLOSED for the Labor Day holiday. Normal operations will resume on Tuesday, September 4.

Grandparent’s Day

All Grandparent’s are admitted FREE into the ZiibiwingCenter! Treat your grandchildren to a fun day out while being treated by the ZiibiwingCenter yourself!

Performance Circle Sign-Up and 1st Class 4-5:30pm

Performance Circle classes are held every Tuesday. We will hold the first class from 4:00pm to 5:30pm. We will then evaluate the class size and students needs to determine if we need to split the class into smaller groups to offer the best learning opportunities (Senior Class 4:00pm to 5:30pm & Junior Class 5:30pm to 6:30pm).

Sign-up today for this 12-week certification program! Ages 3-16, beginner dancers can join the Jr. Performance Circle and ages 6-16, experienced dancers can join the Sr. Performance Circle. The mission of the Anishinabe Performance Circle is aimed at promoting and enhancing positive self images of all children through the use of traditional Anishinabe arts (storytelling, dance, music, and language), and preparing our youth as leaders in a multicultural society. Dare to learn the culture and share it with others.

Monarch Butterfly Celebration • 1-4pm

Free and open to the public. Take home with you a memorable experience that is fun for the entire family. View a performance (what is sometimes called the “Butterfly Dance”) where women wear brightly colored shawls around their shoulders and dance. Enjoy children’s activities, face painting, door prizes, and more.

American Indian Boarding School Educator Training

The Ziibiwing Center of the Saginaw Chippewa Indian Tribe has developed a series of planned lessons for its publication, American Indian Boarding Schools. All lessons have been written to link Common Core State Standards. Two sessions of educator training are currently being made available. This opportunity provides a walk through the lessons in order to learn the content more thoroughly as well as to explore ideas for successful presentation and multiple uses of the material. Audiences for this training are: Middle/Secondary school teachers, administrators, counselors and social workers, SB-CEU credits are available.
