American Indian Dance – “Awaken Your Spirit”

1 Jul

The Ziibiwing Center is proud to present American Indian Dances – “Awaken Your Spirit” this July. Every Saturday in July we will feature a different style of American Indian Dance. The intimacy of the program has been created to provide insight into the history and significance of each dance. There will also be opportunities to interact with the dancers.

This Saturday, July 4, the Ziibiwing Center is presenting a glimpse into history through the art of traditional American Indian dance. Men’s and Women’s traditional dance will be performed at 12pm, 2pm, & 4pm in the Ziibiwing Center lobby.

Traditional Men’s and Women’s dance is the original and oldest form of American Indian dance. The men’s traditional dance tells the story of creation, combat, and hunting. The women’s traditional dance honors the connection women share with Mother Earth.  Women traditional dancers are called the “backbone of our nation.”

This event is free and open to the public. The Ziibiwing Center will be open from 10am-6pm on July 4. Come learn, listen, and watch American Indian dances with your friends and family.
